Lampard says I’m off as 16 Clubs Chase Him -3rd June (9 days to Brazil)

Frank Lampard is the world’s most wanted footballer at 35-years-of-age, which is remarkable, but this is more so!

TRUE HERO

A century on from the Great War, the courage of British troops are undimmed. Take Dean Bousfield, who somehow survived a sniper’s bullet to the brain in Afghanistan in 2012. He was paralyzed and told he would never walk or talk again. Thanks partly to his care by Help the Heroes he is back on his feet, studying for a degree and cycling World War One’s Western Front for the Sun-backed charity. About 250 others will join him on the Big Battlefield Bike Ride, ending this Friday.

SCHOOL’S OUT FOR SLUMBER

Could this be one of the reasons we are not producing young players?

A posh school is set to start lessons at 1.30pm – so that its pupils can have a lie-in. Sixth-formers at fifteen grand a year Hampton Court House will have the latest start time in Britain.

Hampton Court is not far away from Chelsea Football Club’s Egham training ground.

The decision is based on radical claims that teenagers are biologically designed to sleep in late. Head teacher Guy Holloway says the move – which will see students leave school at 7pm – will let pupils over the age of 16 get better quality sleep  and boost their brain power. He said, “Teenagers are not lazy so why do we berate them  when they struggle to get up in the morning, in an attempt to override their circadian rhythms?

A circadian rhythm is any biological process that displays an endogenous, entrainable oscillation of about 24 hours. These rhythms are driven by a circadian clock, and rhythms have been widely observed in plants, animals, fungi, and cyanobacteria.

No wonder too many adolescents and those in their early twenties are reliant on coffee and prone to sleep disorders and depression.”

I don’t think that Dave Sexton would have agreed with that when I was playing for Chelsea as an 18-year-old for some reason.

Alfie Fisher commented on your status.  Alfie Fisher wrote: ’Alan, you may have met Lee Rigby when you watched the football match with me and Billy Miller at Dhekelia a few years
back”….
I received this from my pal Alfie Fisher after he read my piece about Lee. It was the match where I gave out the Man of the Match to ‘The Sniper’ in a match between the Army and Navy on the border of the north and southern Cyprus. It was a very memorable day for me and after that match we had the most marvelous night out celebrating with the lads who only 48 hours before were fighting the Afghans.

I wondered if they had a lie-in till 1.30pm?

Alfie again…

Probably, if not, he would have been in the pub that night with the Sniper because they were Guns platoon, Riggers was in Guns then and the Drum Major was a guy named Sy Valentine who sadly got killed the following year in Afghanistan. Sy has his Drums uniform framed and on the wall at 2RRF in his honour. This scumbag Government have disbanded 2RRF and they fold in August when they leave here. There is a website called Save 2RRF on Facebook, it would be nice if you left a comment on there, cheers Al catch up soon.
