The World Cup and this ongoing Crazy World

With England once again failing to live up to the media hype and the truly unbelievable leadership of Fabio Capello in those European Championships, those clowns at the Football Association made the obvious change. But how many times have we seen these people earning fortunes at Soho Square make such a hash of things yet still keep their jobs?

Enter Roy Hodgson who I bumped into in the Kings Road just after my move back there and after a brief introduction – he did not recognize me – I asked him, “Did you watch that rubbish last night?” That rubbish being yet another Manchester United calamity, mainly defensively under Moyes, of which was something I said because the England boss had several of these players in his squad. Roy looked concerned and I wondered if I had hit a nerve?

Obviously not, for he continues to stick by these players, those who were absolutely disgraceful for most of a season that was surely their worst since Alex Ferguson had to revamp his club by selling the brilliant Paul McGrath, Norman Whiteside and a couple of others and replace them with those young players that pundit Alan Hansen said of “You can’t win trophies with such inexperience (youth)”.

Alan gets reminded of that every now and then but what does he care as he continues to count his dosh like those “clowns” at the FA, those that will be flying out First Class and have a holiday of a lifetime in Brazil, all-expense-paid, although they’ll be there much longer than the players.

What have they ever contributed to English football is all I want to know?

Paddy Power is giving a 100/1 for our chances, which gives you an indication that this is the worst ever squad entering a World Cup?
