THE FINAL CURTAIN

Where you are::Home/Euro 2016/THE FINAL CURTAIN

AND NOW THE END IS NEAR….

And some say “thank goodness for that” mainly because of England’s repeated disappointment, although it seems that those uninspiring millionaires don’t seem to be so concerned as they ‘sun it’ on faraway beaches. Yeah, of course they need the rest…are you kidding?

The best football team are out due to not having no Seeler’s, Muller’s (Gerd) or Klinsman’s in their very talented squad.

They had the best defensive and midfield on show but absolutely nothing up front even though the other Muller was with them, or was he?

Thomas the Tank was more like Thomas Thumb as he twiddled around in ‘no mans land’ looking like he didn’t know where the goal was, or more like an English forward, if you like, or don’t like?

Anyhow, as tournaments go those who get better with each match get to the final and so it has proved with France showing glimpses of brilliance although rather fortunate that the Germans all of a sudden seem to be getting good hearted, giving penalties away like confetti with Boateng and Shweitzen (whoever) handballing with no apparent danger in sight. Boateng was incredible because he was, before his debacle, absolutely outstanding, and that was when we all began thinking “Oi Oi Muller not finding the net and Boateng giving penalties away” and then Schweitzen (whoever) apart from “handing ” the French the lead missing a penalty in the previous match, something the Germans just don’t do, well, they didn’t do before now, and they only got through because Italy were even worse.

So, here we are, with Ronaldo showing Muller were the goal is with that wonderful header against the Welsh to lead the way, he now goes into tonight’s match with that spring back in his step.

However, come in Antione Griezmann, a lovely player of immense skill and attitude (are you listening Rooney?) who also goes into the Stade de France with the bit between his teeth, although what makes this so fascinating is that Pogba will not want to be overshadowed with his imminent move to Manchester United on the cards.

Who will win?

I hope football!

Pogba was once with United as was Ricardo Queresma with Chelsea and both players are stepping up in the later stages, Queresma proving an all-important benchman, coming on and giving Portugal more fire and desire not to mention lots of creativity and an all-important winner along the way.

At 11/10 the hosts look an outstanding bet, but Portugal will be in no rush to win it in 90 minutes, which might lead you to yet another draw at 11/5, and we all know that Portugal get better in the latter stages of their matches and Ronaldo more space.

My tip were Germany and would have won this had Muller visited Specsavers, but isn’t it good to see that the Germans are human, missing penalties and their main strikers not getting anywhere near scoring…

This all points to Ronaldo with France not the greatest from dead balls and Ronnie quite the opposite, so I’ll sign off by saying that watch Andy Murray first and if he gets beat (a near impossibility) then back Portugal, although I really, like I did with Germany, cannot see France losing his one.
