ALL SET UP FOR DREAM FINAL……..

Where you are::Home/Euro 2016/ALL SET UP FOR DREAM FINAL……..

Why not?

Wales against Iceland the two big outsiders who have not only got through but deserved it.

Sometimes in cup competitions teams reach the final stages through a little luck here and there, which does not apply here, if you ignore Gareth Bales two free-kicks where both keepers were not only unsighted by the ‘Dreaded Wall’ but made a mess of what they are expected to do, but these days Joe Hart is making it an Occupational Hazard although that began a long time ago when joining Manchester City and then getting that TV advertisement for something to do with his head. The only thing Head and Shoulders has done for him is make his head bigger and his tongue looser. As for his hands, he might as well been doing an ad for what the Liverpool players are doing, Nivea.

I remember watching a Benny Hill programme years ago when he was taking off Richard Burton and Liz Taylor and Miss Virginia Wolfe was looking into the mirror admiring herself, when she said to him, who was reading the newspaper, “I’ve been to the doctor today and he said how lovely my sin was” I replied by saying “Yes doctor I use Ponds” and he said “Yeah, so do Swans”.

Have you noticed since Liverpool have been using Nivea they’ve had two faces under Klopp. I’d like to say one German (who are through again) and the other Liverpudlian, but no, they seem to as with Joe, let it go to their head.

As with Liverpool one is promising so much and the other producing nothing, much like our team in France.

But let’s look forward and hope that the two teams who have absolutely had Europe gobsmacked can carry on and I see no reason why not?

Like with last night, Germany looked like cruising into the next match until Boateng tried to touch a passing cloud; what the hell was he thinking?

Henry said “He was showing the referee that he was making no contact with the forward” well, all I have to say is ‘Why did he not put his arms out wide waist high’, well, that is only logic and the Frenchman is in line for a place in the new Arsenal management Dream Team, once Del Boys Grand Dad packs it in, although Arsene has not been in as many wars as he!

The other thing that was outstanding in that German/Italy match was that after listening to Alan Shearer talking of stepping up take a penalty the majority of these players did the exact opposite. AS said “All, you do is make your mind up early, step up and don’t change it” which was advice from a Master at Work when it came to finding ye opponents net, so why don’t these nations employ people like that, after all they have specialist this and that but no specialist penalty operator and apart from Matt Le Tissier Big Al was the absolute best.

They tell me, and the rest of the world, through the media that games are won and lost on ‘fine detail’ and doing your homework, so how comes no coaches has a man on the bench ready to talk his players through such an important part of these knock-out stages?

We have had Ray Lewington and Gary Neville next to Roy on the bench and Gareth Southgate (of course he couldn’t be the penalty consultant) but no sign of a Alan Shearer who I would employ if only for European and World Cups and as they say “Bring him on” when the whistle blows after 120 minutes.

In a nutshell, Roy Hodgson has had over two years building for this once his Brazilian Disaster was over, but has not only failed to succeed but failed to do what is the easiest part of his job, and that is prepare with ‘fine detail’.

I know that Chris Coleman and hopefully his opposite number in the final will have done that, and I just hope its the Dream Final.
